That was the Audi FIS World Cup 2011
15,000 spectators at the Ladies' Night Slalom in Flachau
A race that can scarcely be beaten for excitement and then the thrill of two snow space princesses! The 15,000 spectators got their money’s worth at the Ladies‘ Night Slalom in Flachau. The Hermann Maier World Cup run was in excellent condition – challenging and icy. The new full HD-capable floodlights ensured perfect lighting conditions.
| The FIS Chief Race Director, Atle Skaardal, was impressed with the conditions on offer in Flachau and the two winners, Maria Riesch and Tanja Poutiainen, commended the excellent work of the Flachau ski slope team. Following his return from an expedition to the south pole, Hermann Maier was also in attendance at the floodlit spectacle in Flachau, as well as Michael Häupl, the mayor of Vienna. Thousands of fans ensured a fantastic atmosphere and transformed the finishing line stadium into absolute pandemonium. |
| Such a high quality sports event naturally demands a suitable setting. So between the two runs there was a spectacular show with motocross and skidoos, before and after the race there was a full programme with DJs and live acts on the Krone stage, and for the crowning finish there was an ultra cool snow space club party in the underground car park in the town centre, which was also visited by Hermann Maier and Tanja Poutiainen. |
